Day 8: What’s your favourite species to collect, and why?
Anyone who knows me will know the answer to this question - dogs, dogs, dogs!
I have always had a massive love for dogs, and their history, and just everything about them. My main interest in this world is dogs - so it makes sense that dogs make up the majority of my skull collection. I actually have a dream of having a dog museum, not just of skulls but of everything to do with them. It doesn’t seem likely to ever happen, but it is a nice thing to imagine.
I love the little differences in each individual skull, and I have been trying for the past 5 years to compile a massive reference collection of images of different breed skulls to see if there are good ways to tell different breeds apart. I also have a blog I am working on, @dogskulls that I plan to hopefully make a little database from, consisting of both images I’ve found on tumblr and also my own collection. It still has a long way to go, but I know what I want to do with it - just got to do it!
